On the most recent episode of his podcast, “Triggered With Don Jr,” Donald Trump Jr. made controversial comments about several major brands partnering with trans influencers, including Nike and Bud Light. Trump Jr. referred to the inclusive campaigns of these brands as being “woke beyond belief” and criticized the use of trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney as the new face of Nike women’s workout gear.

Despite the fact that most sports brands have been partnering with trans influencers for years, Mulvaney’s partnership with Nike received significant transphobic backlash. This included comments from Olympian Sharron Davies and Republican trans woman and former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner, who both criticized the partnership.

In response to the backlash, Nike urged users to be “kind” and “inclusive” while refraining from “hate speech.” However, Trump Jr. continued to criticize the partnership, referring to the “small population” of trans people as having “such power” and misgendering Mulvaney.

Trump Jr. also criticized Bud Light and Jack Daniel’s over their inclusive campaigns, which have featured drag queens and other members of the LGBTQ+ community. Despite calls for boycotts from right-wing groups, Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light, has seen its share price climb to record levels.

Trump Jr.’s comments have been widely criticized for their anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, with many noting the importance of trans and drag representation in advertising. TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp spoke out in support of Mulvaney, emphasizing the importance of trans inclusion and gender acceptance.

The controversy surrounding these brand partnerships highlights the ongoing cultural and political debates surrounding LGBTQ+ rights and representation. As brands continue to prioritize inclusivity and diversity in their advertising, it remains to be seen how conservative voices will react to these changes.
