Josh O’Connor’s Gay Teen Romance Film ‘Bonus Track’ Secures US Release

Don’t miss ‘Bonus Track,’ the queer coming-of-age film by Josh O’Connor, hitting US theaters this October! #LGBTQ #BonusTrack #JoshOConnor

The highly anticipated queer coming-of-age film, Bonus Track, penned by Josh O’Connor of Challengers fame, is set for its US release. Following a successful premiere at the 2023 BFI London Film Festival and a UK release on Sky Cinema, US fans have eagerly awaited their chance to see the film. Sunrise Films has now secured the US distribution rights, with a theatrical and digital release planned for October 2024.

Bonus Track centers on George, portrayed by Joe Anders of 1917, a teenage musician navigating the turbulent waters of puberty. As George grapples with the pressures of school and his passion for music, his world is turned upside down by the arrival of Max, played by Samuel Small of So Awkward. George’s journey of self-discovery and his burgeoning relationship with Max form the heart of this poignant narrative.

The film’s official synopsis reveals, “All socially awkward George cares about is music. When the charismatic Max joins his school, George realizes that he’s the key to writing the perfect song. But George realizes maybe the real prize isn’t winning the talent show… it’s Max.” The trailer teases scenes of George struggling academically, except in music, and his growing closeness with Max as they collaborate on a school project.

Adding to the film’s allure is original music by Olly Alexander, the frontman of Years & Years and a Eurovision entrant, along with a nostalgic soundtrack featuring 2000s indie hits. The star-studded cast includes Jack Davenport, Alison Sudol, Ellie Kendrick, Nina Wadia, and a cameo by Josh O’Connor himself.

For US audiences, the wait is nearly over. Bonus Track promises to deliver a heartfelt and authentic portrayal of young queer love, set against the backdrop of teenage trials and the universal struggle for self-acceptance.
