In the fabulous world of reality TV, Trixie Mattel has always been a name to watch. But guess what? This Drag Race legend turned down The Traitors not once, not twice, but four times! Can you believe it? Well, it turns out that the queen of camp finally said yes, but only to a fictional version of the show created by none other than Michael Patrick King.
In a recent chat on the Talk Of The Townsends podcast, King spilled the tea about how Trixie was their dream pick for the show. “I love Trixie Mattel. I mean, I’m a big fan of Drag Race, but I think Trixie is kind of a unique brand,” he gushed. And while she had repeatedly said no to the real deal, her answer to the scripted version was a resounding yes—largely thanks to her obsession with the show’s iconic lead character, Valerie Cherish, played by the fabulous Lisa Kudrow.

“We were thinking, ‘Who would be on The Traitors? And, you know, they always pick a drag queen. And, I thought, ‘Well, if we have a choice, let’s ask Trixie,’” King explained. And Trixie, who had previously turned down the actual show four times, jumped at the chance to be part of The Comeback. “She was so excited,” King said, and it’s no wonder—who wouldn’t want to share the screen with Valerie Cherish?
But wait, it gets better! Trixie was so committed to making this cameo happen that she even canceled her birthday vacation plans just to film her scene. Talk about dedication! According to King, she was thrilled to sit across from Valerie and take part in The Traitors “her way.” Now that’s what we call a queen move!

And let’s not forget that The Traitors has had its fair share of Drag Race royalty gracing its episodes. From season nine icon Peppermint to the ever-charismatic Bob the Drag Queen and All Stars 4 winner Monét X Change, the show has become a playground for drag talent. In Canada, the show has also welcomed a slew of Canada’s Drag Race favorites like Miss Fiercalicious and Melinda Verga.
