‘9-1-1’ Star Blames Co-Star for Wild Gay Ship

Ryan Guzman spills the tea on why fans are shipping Eddie & Buck, and apparently, it’s all Oliver Stark’s fault… because he “doesn’t know how to walk straight.” 👀🔥

The ‘Buddie’ fandom has been eating well, and Ryan Guzman just served up another helping. The 9-1-1 actor, who plays Edmundo “Eddie” Díaz, is finally weighing in on the show’s most passionate ship—Eddie and Evan “Buck” Buckley. And in true chaotic fashion, he’s pinning the entire thing on his co-star, Oliver Stark.

Guzman sat down with Zach Sang, where the host brought up how the 9-1-1 fandom loves to run with storylines—sometimes ones that don’t technically exist on screen. But when it comes to the “Buddie” ship? Oh, Guzman has receipts.

“It all started from, I think it was season 2,” Guzman recalled. “Eddie and Buck were walking down and we kept on bumping each other’s shoulders. So somebody picked up on that, and that’s where it just kept on growing and growing and growing.”

And was this intentional? Not at all, apparently. Guzman playfully threw Stark under the bus, laughing, “No, it’s just because Oliver doesn’t know how to walk straight. That’s it.”

You heard it here first—Buddie exists because of Stark’s questionable walking skills.

The Ship That Won’t Sink

Whether it was accidental or not, Buddie has only gotten stronger over the years, fueled by their intense bond and undeniable chemistry. Even though Eddie is still (at least officially) straight, the fandom isn’t giving up on him and Buck becoming something more. And after Buck’s big moment in the show’s 100th episode—kissing a man for the first time—the possibilities are endless.

Even Stark himself has acknowledged that Buck’s journey is far from over. “I really want to see Buck continue to explore what it is that really speaks to him, and what he’s into,” he said in an interview. And as for his new love interest, Tommy? Stark thinks he’ll play a key role in Buck’s self-discovery, adding, “I think it would be really nice if [Tommy] was able to continue to hold [Buck’s] hand and could help guide him through this process.”

While 9-1-1 hasn’t confirmed whether Buck and Eddie will ever cross that line, one thing is certain—the fans aren’t letting this one go. And with Stark’s “walking problem” to thank for it, we wouldn’t be surprised if the show leans into the chemistry even more.

Buckle up (pun intended), because this ship isn’t docking anytime soon.
