Jimin Moon is back, and they’re not just making waves—they’re making a splash on Broadway this Pride Month! The star of Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody and the fabulous Broadway Bares is here to remind us all why we fell in love with theater in the first place. After a bit of a burnout from the relentless grind of auditions and performances, Jimin is rediscovering the joy of being on stage, and honey, they’re loving every minute of it!

“I’m very much loving Broadway again,” Moon exclaims, their excitement palpable. “I’m loving musical theater. I’m loving New York. I’m loving being an actor.” And who wouldn’t? With two of New York’s most talked-about queer productions under their belt, Jimin is right where they belong—center stage, baby!

In Heated Rivalry, Jimin takes on the role of Shane Hollander, a character that has fans swooning. The show is a delightful parody about rival hockey superstars who find love, and it’s got everyone buzzing. “I’m such a fandom kid,” Moon admits. “I was a massive Hunger Games nerd, a Harry Potter nerd, a Marvel nerd. Fandom runs deep inside of me.” And it shows! Jimin thrives on the joy their performances bring to audiences, stating, “Having groups of people come to our show with their friends, then be so sweet outside afterward about having had a great time, that’s what I care about.”

But let’s not forget about the iconic Broadway Bares. This is Jimin’s third year participating, and they can’t get enough of the energy. “The vibes are so good. The people are so lovely. It feels like such a New York theater thing,” they say. It’s not just about the glitz and glamour; it’s about giving back, too. The event raises funds for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and Jimin is all about that charitable spirit.

When asked how they balance their busy schedule, Jimin laughs, “My calendar app!” But in all seriousness, they’ve been juggling performances and auditions like a pro. “I had a big breakdown the other day because I got an audition notice with new sides and I was like, ‘Oh my fucking God.’” But after a good cry, they rallied and got back to work. “I think I was feeling a little burnt out on the industry for a while. Doing this show and the beauty of Broadway Bares has reminded me how much I love Broadway.”

As for what’s next in their Broadway Bares performance, Jimin is stepping it up by singing for the first time! “I’m in the opening number. The original song is sick as hell. I’m wearing black and looking hot.” We can’t wait to see it!

And let’s talk about Pride! Jimin’s mom is making a return to the Pride March this year, and they’re excited to share the experience. “It was so precious. She almost passed out on the parade route because it was boiling hot,” they laugh. This year, they’re making sure she stays cool while celebrating their community. “Everyone should come to Pride because Heated Rivalry is going to have a float, which is going to be so fun.”

So, if you’re in New York this June, don’t miss Jimin Moon lighting up the stage in Heated Rivalry and Broadway Bares. It’s a Pride Month celebration you won’t want to miss!
