Czechia has announced ADONXS, a celebrated queer activist and musician, as its representative for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest. Known offstage as Adam Pavlovčin, this Slovak-born artist has built a remarkable career, blending his unapologetic queer identity with his musical talents.

ADONXS, 29, first gained prominence in 2021 after winning the Czech-Slovak edition of Pop Idol, where his boundary-pushing performances captivated audiences. Following this success, he released a series of chart-topping singles and a debut album, “Age of Adonxs,” cementing his place in the region’s music industry.

Beyond his artistic achievements, ADONXS has made waves as an LGBTQ+ activist. His advocacy work includes campaigns for broader queer representation in Slovak culture and efforts to redefine “love” in the Slovakian dictionary to encompass all genders and sexualities. He has also taken a stand against anti-LGBTQ+ violence, performing at memorials for victims of hate crimes and using his platform to call for greater acceptance and equality.

Eurovision 2025, set to take place in Basel, Switzerland, promises to be a historic event. The previous winner, non-binary singer Nemo, set a powerful precedent for diverse representation, and ADONXS continues this legacy. His selection as Czechia’s contestant underscores the contest’s ongoing role as a celebration of inclusivity and self-expression.

As the world tunes in for the semi-finals in May and the grand finale on 17 May, ADONXS’s performance will not only showcase his musical prowess but also highlight the resilience and vibrancy of the LGBTQ+ community. His presence on the Eurovision stage is a reminder of the transformative power of visibility and representation in dismantling prejudice.
