Renowned photographer Kuros has artfully harnessed the essence of Pride Month, embracing the kaleidoscope of emotions and identities through a remarkable photo series titled “True Colors.” Drawing inspiration from the timeless anthem by Cyndi Lauper, Kuros’ lens vividly captures the beauty of diversity. Each photograph is a testament to the myriad of shades that adorn the LGBTQ+ community, mirroring the vibrant hues of Pride flags that flutter during celebratory marches globally.
In this evocative collection, Kuros reflects on his personal journey, from his days as a closeted gay teenager navigating a conservative backdrop to his present role as a visual storyteller for inclusivity. He shares, “When I was a closet gay teenager in a conservative environment, I adored the sensibility of this amazing song performed by Cyndi Lauper. I find it to be one of the best songs about friendship and loving people for who they are, with all their shades, edges, colors… from the greatest passion of red to the iciest coldness of blue to the warmth of orange.”
The series stars the charismatic model Nenad Vujanovic, a representation of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Kuros’ masterful portrayal is further elevated by the stylish attire, courtesy of Pump and Jockmail, enhancing the visual narrative with a modern flair.
As Pride Month unfolds, “True Colors” stands as a testament to the journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and the celebration of every identity under the rainbow. Through Kuros’ lens, the LGBTQ+ community finds a mirror reflecting not just their images, but their stories, struggles, and triumphs.
