Inflation Tops Trans Rights Concerns

💸✨ Americans are more worried about bills than trans rights! A new poll shows priorities are shifting. Are politicians paying attention? 🤔 #TransRights #Inflation

TL;DR

  • GLAAD poll shows inflation is top concern for Americans.
  • Only 8% prioritize trans rights issues.
  • 70% prefer candidates focused on lowering costs.
  • 68% support corporate backing for LGBTQ+ rights.
  • Voters reject divisive culture wars.

In a world where the cost of living seems to be rising faster than a drag queen’s heels, a new GLAAD poll has revealed that Americans are more concerned about their wallets than the political antics surrounding trans rights. Yes, you heard that right! While some Republican politicians are desperately trying to make trans rights a hot-button issue ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, it seems voters have their eyes locked on the real crisis: inflation.

According to the survey conducted with over 5,000 US adults, a mere 8% identified transgender issues as their top concern. Meanwhile, a whopping 44% said inflation and the skyrocketing cost of living were their number-one priority. Talk about a reality check!

But wait, there’s more! The poll also revealed that a staggering seven in ten voters would rather support candidates who focus on lowering those pesky everyday costs rather than those who are hell-bent on restricting trans rights. It’s clear where the priorities lie, folks!

And if you think that’s it, think again. Nearly three-quarters of respondents expressed their support for candidates who believe everyone deserves to live free from fear and discrimination. That’s right—65% of voters even agreed that politicians often scapegoat transgender people as a distraction from more pressing issues facing the country. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

But it’s not all doom and gloom! The survey also explored attitudes toward corporate support for LGBTQ+ communities, and guess what? A solid 68% of respondents said companies should be free to support LGBTQ+ people if they choose. And 62% said they were comfortable with brands participating in Pride events. Can I get a YAS QUEEN?

More than three-quarters of those surveyed stated they trust companies that stand by their values, even when doing so proves controversial. GLAAD CEO Sarah Kate Ellis summed it up perfectly: “These results confirm what most Americans already believe: we are at our best when we treat our friends, family, and neighbours with basic dignity and respect.”

So, while the culture wars may rage on, it seems that Americans are more focused on their bank accounts than on the divisive rhetoric surrounding trans rights. Let’s hope politicians take note and start prioritizing the issues that really matter to the people!
