Kristen Stewart has landed a leading role in the upcoming comedy film “Sacramento,” according to Deadline. The movie, labeled as a “road-trip” comedy, follows the journey of two best friends as they navigate married life with their respective wives. Stewart will be starring alongside Maya Erskine, Michael Cera, and Michael Angarano in the movie.
Angarano, who also stars in the film, is set to direct the project and co-write the script alongside Chris Smith. In a statement, he expressed his excitement over the movie and its star-studded cast. “We’re honored to be working with this wildly talented cast and crew led by Stephen at Bee-Hive who is not only a great partner, but a true collaborator,” he said. “It’s already been quite a journey, but we’re finally ready to go make a movie.”
Stewart will be playing the role of Rosie, Cera’s wife, while Erskine will be portraying Tallie, Angarano’s wife. Production for the film is set to begin this spring.
“Sacramento” is just one of the many projects that Stewart has signed on to in recent months. Earlier this year, she was also reported to be portraying bisexual writer, philosopher, and political activist Susan Sontag in an upcoming biopic based on Ben Moser’s biography “Sontag: Her Life and Work.”
The film, tentatively titled “Sontag,” will reportedly follow a meta-like format and include documentary footage of Stewart attending the Berlin Film Festival. Brouhaha Entertainment co-founder Gabrielle Tana explained, “We’re using Berlin as a moment to kick off the project and do documentary footage of Kristen as the head of the jury and talking to her about how she’s going to become Sontag. It will be a drama, but with a documentary aspect to it.”
With her impressive range of performances, Kristen Stewart continues to push boundaries in the entertainment industry.
