Layton Williams, who has been a standout performer on this season of Strictly Come Dancing, surprised viewers when he unexpectedly landed in the bottom two alongside his dance partner, Angela Scanlon, on Sunday night. Williams had consistently delivered impressive performances throughout the season, earning high scores and breaking records with his partner Nikita Kuzmin.
However, as the competition intensified, Williams and Kuzmin’s routine to “It’s Oh So Quiet” by Bjork earned them their lowest score in seven weeks, placing them in fourth position for the week.
After both Williams and Scanlon performed their routines once more, the judges rendered their verdicts. Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton du Beke all agreed that Williams’s routine was “the better dance of the night” and chose to send Scanlon home, ensuring Williams’s spot in the quarter-finals.
Taking to social media, Layton Williams playfully joked about his unexpected fall from the top, writing, “Not me going from being a top to a bottom! #Versatile.” He also shared a photo of himself and his dance partner after being saved by the judges, expressing his gratitude and enthusiasm for the upcoming Musical Week.
Despite the unexpected bottom-two placement, Layton Williams will continue to compete on Strictly Come Dancing and is set to participate in next week’s Musical Week alongside other quarter-finalists.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday, December 2, at 7:25 pm on BBC One.
