Monét X Change, the celebrated winner of All Stars 4 and finalist of All Stars 7, has delighted audiences with her charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent over three seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race. However, it seems her Drag Race journey has reached its conclusion – unless one extraordinary condition is met.
The drag superstar first captured hearts on season 10 of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2018, finishing in sixth place. Her return for All Stars 4 saw her become the franchise’s first-ever joint winner, sharing the crown with Trinity the Tuck. Monét’s prowess was further showcased in the All Winners edition of All Stars, where she narrowly missed out on the top spot to Jinkx Monsoon.
In an exclusive interview about her new variety talk show, Monét’s Slumber Party, available biweekly on Dropout, Monét shared the one way she could be tempted back to Drag Race. “I don’t see myself going back for Drag Race in any way. They say never say never, but I don’t see that journey for me,” she admitted. However, she did leave a sliver of hope for fans: a ‘Best Friend Season.’
Monét mused about the possibility of a season featuring iconic duos like Trixie Mattel and Katya, Bob the Drag Queen and herself, Violet Chachki and Gottmik. “Maybe I could be convinced to go back to that, but I don’t know if there’s another reality. I wouldn’t be going back,” she said, adding that the dynamic between her and best friend Bob the Drag Queen might overshadow the competition. “It would be us just sucking the entire air out the room the entire time. The rest of the cast would be like: ‘Damn, can we get a word in?’”
Though a ‘Best Friend Season’ of Drag Race is not currently in the works, fans can catch Monét on her new show, Monét’s Slumber Party, which premiered on 19 July with episodes releasing every other Friday on Dropout. The show promises engaging conversations with her drag peers, including Bob the Drag Queen, Naomi Smalls, and Kim Chi.
