Eli Erlick, a transgender woman and political activist, is suing transgender commentator Blaire White for defamation after White accused Erlick of causing the suicide of another trans woman. However, this woman is actually alive. The suit filed in the Southern District of New York names White, who promotes far-right conspiracy theories, as defendant. The document describes her as a notorious YouTuber who has traded on the fact that she is transgender to encourage hate against members of the trans community.
According to the lawsuit, White has a history of attacking other trans individuals. It quotes a ruling from another New York court stating that White has been creating and uploading episodes of a video series, ‘Triggering Tr[*]nnies’ since January 2017, which features taunts of people who identify as trans. It also calls all of these comments “queer slurs”. The suit states that White accused Erlick of sexually abusing and causing the death of another trans person, Danie, who made the accusation.
Erlick suffered economic harm, humiliation, and other consequences because of White’s video. This has drawn more than half a million views on YouTube, according to the suit. The document explains that Erlick responded to Diamond’s accusations of sexual abuse, and that Diamond went on to delete them. The suit seeks a jury trial and an award of punitive damages and court costs.
