Armie Hammer, known for his role in the acclaimed LGBTQ film “Call Me by Your Name,” has broken his long silence on social media. The actor had faced significant backlash in early 2021 when multiple women accused him of sexual harassment and disturbing sexual fantasies, including cannibalism. Screenshots of explicit text messages shared on social media fueled the controversy.
Hammer vehemently denied any sexual assault allegations, but he acknowledged having a “very intense and extreme lifestyle.” He claimed that all encounters with women were consensual and pre-discussed. Following the accusations, Hammer withdrew from public life, entered rehab, and worked with a sober companion to address his issues.
In a February 2023 interview with Air Mail, Hammer expressed remorse for his past behavior, stating, “I’m here to own my mistakes, take accountability for the fact that I was an assh*le, that I was selfish, that I used people to make me feel better, and when I was done, moved on.” He also mentioned his commitment to being a better person and a more responsible parent.
While Hammer had remained largely out of the spotlight since the controversy, his recent return to social media suggests that he may be ready for a comeback. However, his past actions continue to cast a shadow over his career, leaving fans and the public to determine whether he can rebuild his image and regain their trust.
