Doritos Mexico is spreading the love this Valentine’s Day with the fifth installment of their “Pride All Year” campaign, “Bold Love.” The new ad follows a lesbian couple on a late-night road trip, touching on heartwarming and heartbreaking scenarios along the way. The conversation between the women shifts to the future and the challenges they may face, including discrimination and the fear of being unable to show public signs of affection.
The ad ends with a powerful message, highlighting the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community. According to a Survey on Discrimination for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, 76 percent of LGBTQ+ members are afraid to show public signs of affection, 33 percent have experienced workplace discrimination, and 30 percent have been evicted from their homes due to their sexuality. Despite Mexico approving same-sex marriages last year, adoption and surrogacy access remain pending.
Doritos encourages people to check out Cuenta Conmigo, an LGBTQ+ advocacy site, for more information and ways to help. The “Pride All Year” campaign, which started in December 2020 with a Christmas-themed video called “The Best Gift,” has since produced similarly heartfelt stories for Mother’s Day, Day of the Dead, and Father’s Day.
