Rapper Boosie Badazz has often been vocal about his opposition to LGBTQ issues, and it seems this time his daughter has had enough. Iviona, who is openly gay, took to social media to express her frustration over her father’s repeated homophobic comments. Boosie, known for controversial opinions, including his criticism of a lesbian storyline in The Color Purple, now faces backlash from a much more personal source—his own child.
In a heartfelt video posted on Instagram, Iviona, who performs under the name Poison Ivi, said she had tolerated her father’s public remarks for years. “He’s been speaking about my sexuality for so long, and I’ve kept quiet. But now, I’ve had enough. I’ve always accepted him as my father, but emotionally, he’s let me down,” she shared.
The tension in their relationship escalated further when Boosie used the term “contaminated” to describe her influence on his other children. Iviona responded, “I love and respect my siblings, and they feel the same about me. His words are not only hurtful but damaging to our family dynamic.”
Her emotional plea also highlighted the complicated nature of familial love in the face of prejudice. “I never criticized you as a father because you always provided for us. But emotionally, you’ve been absent,” she said, emphasizing that his refusal to address these issues privately only added to her pain.
Though Boosie later posted an apology on Instagram, claiming he never meant to hurt his daughter, the damage seems profound. As LGBTQ individuals like Iviona continue to fight for acceptance, the rapper’s public homophobia only deepens the challenges they face, even within their families.
