Pop icon Demi Lovato has just released a new music video for her song “Still Alive,” featured on the upcoming Scream VI soundtrack. In the gory video, Lovato fights for survival against Ghostface himself in what can only be described as a mini Scream film. Fans were quick to praise the video, with some calling for awards recognition.
The video begins with Lovato arriving at a hotel for a screening of Scream VI, where a cinema attendant played by Mike Shinoda is brutally murdered by Ghostface. Lovato and her friends then fight off the killer with a glass vase and prepare to take him down with his own weapon. The video features a montage of brief clips from the upcoming Scream VI film, including a possible final showdown between Gale Weathers and Ghostface.
Fans were quick to show their love for the video on social media, with some calling for awards recognition for Lovato’s performance. The song itself has also received praise for its pop-punk sound and Shinoda’s songwriting.
In a statement, Lovato expressed her excitement for the opportunity to contribute to the iconic horror franchise, saying, “I couldn’t think of a more perfect home for ‘Still Alive’ than within the Scream universe… it’s an honor to contribute to such an iconic horror franchise.”
Scream VI is set to hit theaters on March 10th, featuring many of the final girls from the previous installment, including queer character Mindy played by Jasmin Savoy Brown. The film takes place in New York and promises to be deadlier than ever with Ghostface wielding a shotgun. Fans of the franchise and Demi Lovato alike are eagerly anticipating its release.
