The live Drag Isn’t Dangerous Telethon held on Sunday night was a spectacular event, raising over half a million dollars for LGBTQ+ causes and organizations. By the end of the four-hour telecast, the campaign had amassed a staggering $523,773 in funds. Featuring drag royalty, queer celebrities, and all-star allies, the event aimed to raise awareness and support for the LGBTQ+ community in the face of mounting legislation targeting drag and trans individuals.

United We Stand: The Power of Community
The telethon was an emotional reminder of the strength and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community, as they come together to face political adversity. Broadcast from two locations, the event was hosted by dynamic duos Peppermint and Justin Martindale, overseeing the live phone bank, and All Stars champ Alaska and director-choreographer Adam Shankman, hosting performances and conversations. A cast of icons, including Ginger Minj, Laganja Estranja, Monét X Change, and Jinkx Monsoon, took live calls from donors throughout the evening.

Star Power: Celebrity Support and Performances
Famous faces like Charlize Theron, Billy Eichner, and Michelle Visage appeared in pre-taped sketches and video messages, lending their support to the cause. Telethon ticket holders were treated to exclusive live performances from artists such as Alaska, Vincint, Idina Menzel, and Trixie Mattel. Trixie and Katya also announced plans to host a livestream of the final night of their Trixie And Katya Live! tour, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the Drag Isn’t Dangerous campaign.

Continuing the Fight
While the telethon has concluded, the fight continues. The event will remain available online for 48 hours after its conclusion, with tickets still available for purchase. Donations can be made directly through the Drag Isn’t Dangerous GoFundMe page, and official campaign merchandise can be bought from PEG’s webstore, with all proceeds going to charity. The LGBTQ+ community remains steadfast and united, ensuring their voices will not be silenced.
