A recent three-time Jeopardy! winner, Kevin Belle, has a visionary proposal for the game show: a drag edition of Jeopardy! Belle, a trail planner and part-time drag queen from Silver Spring, Maryland, recently shared his idea with host Ken Jennings during an episode that aired in late April.
When Trivia Meets Drag
Belle’s drag alter-ego, a “spicy redhead” named “Whiskey Ginger,” hosts trivia contests on Zoom. He picked up the persona during the pandemic and describes himself on social media as a “trivia nerd,” “formerly reluctant cat dad,” and “occasional drag queen.” With his unique background, Belle suggested that Jennings should consider appearing in drag on a future episode of Jeopardy!
Ken Jennings Contemplates the Idea
Jennings, although amused, didn’t dismiss the idea. He began brainstorming a Jeopardy!-themed drag name, suggesting “Della Double” or “Miss Information.” Jeopardy!’s official Instagram account also joined in on the fun, asking fans to propose names for Jennings’ potential drag persona. Fans chimed in with creative suggestions like Anne Sir, Formava Question, Cher DaClues, Gia Pardee, Kat deGorie, and Clue-ella DeVille.
What’s Next for Jeopardy! and Jennings
As of May 2, Kevin Belle had won a three-day total of $42,798 on Jeopardy! but lost on his fourth try, which aired on May 3. Belle first suggested Jennings’ drag makeover during his initial appearance on the show, the last episode before Jennings took a break and was replaced by co-host Mayim Bialik. According to the show’s producers, Jennings will be away for four months, providing ample time to contemplate a bold and spicy drag persona for his return.
