After a decade of waiting, Little Monsters have finally received the news they were dreading – Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP follow-up album is officially dead. The highly-anticipated album, dubbed ARTPOP Act II, was long-rumored to be in the works, but fans were recently disappointed to hear that the album will no longer be released.
DJ White Shadow, the producer of ARTPOP, had previously suggested that a follow-up album could still be in the works. However, in a recent post on his Instagram story, he made it clear that he no longer wanted to discuss the album at all. He wrote, “No longer talking about ARTPOP. I am officially finished. Don’t ask me about it. Don’t talk to me about it.”
Despite the producer’s previous hints about a potential release, the most promising news came last November, when DJWS announced that he would “honor” the record by releasing “something special” on ARTPOP’s 10th anniversary. However, following his recent message regarding the album, the post has since been deleted.
The Lady Gaga community has been left reeling from the news that ARTPOP Act II will never see the light of day. While some fans expressed disappointment at the loss of a highly-anticipated album, others were relieved that they could finally move on from the endless teases.
Lady Gaga herself addressed a viral fan petition to get the album’s follow-up released last year, but now it seems that the album is officially dead in the water. Despite this setback, Gaga is currently working on Joker follow-up Joker: Folie à Deux and implementing America’s culture policy alongside President Joe Biden. For now, fans will have to make do with her previous albums, including ARTPOP, which remains a beloved classic in the Lady Gaga canon.
