Retired Australian Olympic champion, Matthew Mitcham, has announced his new venture on the adult content platform, OnlyFans. The former diver revealed that he soft-launched his page on the platform before Christmas. However, it was only this week that he teased his followers with some thirst traps, leading up to his official debut on the site.
After receiving numerous requests from his fans, Mitcham finally decided to create an OnlyFans page to show a side of himself that is not acceptable for other social platforms. In a statement, he wrote that his page would showcase “everything that would be banned on Instagram and TikTok.” However, he added that his content would not include any sexual acts and urged his fans not to expect anything too risqué.
Mitcham’s husband, Luke Rutherford, already has his own OnlyFans page, under the name Mr Male Massage, where he posts sexually explicit massage videos. In 2020, the couple tied the knot, making their relationship official. Last year, Mitcham also made a surprise cameo on his husband’s OnlyFans account.
Matthew Mitcham became the first openly gay male Olympic champion at the Beijing Games in 2008. Since then, he has been an active voice in the LGBT community. Last month, he celebrated seven years of sobriety after struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, which almost ended his career. In an Instagram post, he announced that he was the happiest and healthiest he has ever been.
As the trend of celebrities joining OnlyFans continues, Mitcham’s foray into the platform highlights the diversity of content creators that the site attracts. His presence on the platform also underscores the need for safe spaces for individuals to express themselves freely, especially those from marginalized communities. While Mitcham’s content may not include sexual acts, his decision to create an OnlyFans account speaks to the need for more visibility and representation for the LGBT community in adult content platforms.
