As the US continues to see an increase in anti-trans legislation, Pedro Pascal, actor and ally to the LGBTQ+ community, took to social media to share a powerful message of support. His post featured images of the inclusive LGBTQ+ flag flying in the wind alongside the caption “The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind”, referencing the iconic Bob Dylan song that became an anthem for the civil rights movement in the 60s.
Pascal’s sister, Lux, is a transgender woman whom he has publicly supported for years. In a 2021 interview, Lux shared that Pedro was one of the first people to support her transition, providing her with tools to shape her identity. His response to her coming out over FaceTime was simply “Perfect, this is incredible”, and he served as a guide for her.
Pascal’s support for the LGBTQ+ community has been highlighted by his role in The Last of Us, which features groundbreaking queer plotlines and a cast that has been hailed by the LGBTQ+ community. Fans have praised Pascal’s allyship, with one mother of a trans child thanking him for his support, and a trans man expressing his happiness to know that an actor he admires supports his existence.
While some fans have misconstrued Pascal’s post as him coming out, others have called for people to stop speculating on his sexuality. In a previous interview with WIRED, Pascal expressed his commitment to supporting marginalized communities, stating that “how dare anyone not support the people that are deserving of support, and are deserving of protection and need more of it than you do.”
