The show, which starred out gay actors Wilson Cruz and Anthony Rapp, had become a fan favorite among queer audiences and Star Trek fans alike.
Cruz and Rapp took to Twitter to express their gratitude for their time on the show and for the opportunity to play their beloved characters. In his tweet, Cruz thanked the fans and his fellow cast members, saying “All I feel, right now, is GRATITUDE, for this opportunity and for all of you who have stood with us.” Rapp also shared his appreciation, saying “To say that I will miss working with my incredible Disco family is a profound understatement.”
Star Trek: Picard, which stars Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard, is also coming to an end with its third and final season airing in 2023. While producers have expressed their desire to continue the story with a spinoff series, the future of Discovery remains unclear.
