Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has stirred controversy with her recent comments denouncing brands for selling LGBTQ+ Pride merchandise. In a social media rant, Greene expressed her disapproval, claiming that such brands were “sexually targeting children.” She faced immediate backlash and ridicule after ironically asserting that she would “save a fortune” on brand-name clothes, despite having reportedly spent $100,000 on chapstick.

And yet you spent 100k on used chapstick…

Wait, you are broke now from that sickening stunt and that is why you are peddling that Defund the FBI garbage and need to buy generic clothing!

Greene’s remarks were prompted by a Pride Month brand partnership between The North Face and the nature-loving drag queen, Pattie Gonia. The collaboration was announced in an innocuous Instagram video, where Pattie Gonia, adorned in a rainbow skirt, invited viewers to join The North Face’s “Summer of Pride” event. While the video contained no explicit content, it attracted hateful comments from individuals vowing to boycott the brand.

Taking to social media, Greene expressed her disapproval of the video, insinuating a connection between big-name brands and the alleged grooming of children. In her post, she called for others to join her in boycotting these brands and added the hashtag #BoycottGroomers, a deeply unfounded accusation linking the LGBTQ+ community to child sex abuse.

American Christians need to stop tolerating this evil.

Protect your children.

They are coming for them. https://t.co/xhaDSg6orF

This isn’t the first instance of Greene’s controversial remarks. Just days earlier, she garnered criticism for spending an exorbitant sum of money, $100,000, on used chapstick belonging to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), leading to concerns about misplaced priorities amidst broader national issues. Critics, including Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), highlighted the irony of Greene’s claims to abandon name-brand clothes while indulging in extravagant purchases.

In her recent diatribe, Greene also took aim at the LA Dodgers for their inclusion of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in their Pride Night event. Expressing concern for American Christians and the protection of children, she ignited further controversy with her remarks, calling for a halt to what she deemed “evil” actions.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s comments have once again placed her in the midst of controversy, as critics question her stance on LGBTQ+ issues and her apparent inconsistency between words and actions. As public discourse surrounding LGBTQ+ rights continues to evolve, such divisive rhetoric underscores the challenges faced by marginalized communities in their ongoing fight for equality and acceptance.
