In a recent interview with Esquire, Sarah Paulson, known for her roles in American Horror Story and Ratched, shared a heartwarming story about her early friendship with Pedro Pascal, star of The Last of Us and The Mandalorian. The two actors first met in the 1990s when Pascal was studying at New York University’s Tish School of the Arts, and according to Paulson, there were times when she had to give him her daily per diem so he could afford to eat.
Despite these difficult times, Paulson has watched Pascal’s career soar, with roles in critically acclaimed shows such as Game of Thrones and blockbuster films like Wonder Woman 1984. “Sometimes, the show is the superstar, it’s exciting to see that he is the thing that is becoming the superstar,” she said. “You just want him to succeed.”
Paulson also expressed her excitement at the prospect of Pascal taking on leading roles traditionally held by actors like Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson, and even suggested remaking Die Hard and Lethal Weapon movies with him in the lead.
Pascal, who recently revealed that he has a transgender sister, Lux Pascal, has been a vocal ally of the LGBTQ+ community throughout his career. He will be seen next in Pedro Almodóvar’s queer western, Strange Way of Life, which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
