The sun-kissed beaches of Key West, Florida were once again the venue for the highly anticipated Bear Weekend in 2022, and it was one for the books. This event, which had been cancelled for two years due to the pandemic, was eagerly awaited by the bear community, and boy, did it deliver! Sponsored by Cybersocket.com and Bear World Magazine, the event was held from November 2nd to November 6th and featured a wide range of exciting events that brought the bears out in full force.
With the autumn chill in the air, the Cybersocket Pool Party at Island House Key West was the perfect way to warm up, as bears from all over the country gathered to enjoy the sun and the fun. Alexander Rodriguez, the guest host, kept the energy high, while the furry and fabulous Teddy Bear, guest judge for the Mr. Key West Bear Contest, stole the show. The Bourbon Street Pub was the venue for the contest, which was also sponsored by Cybersocket.com, and featured past titleholders Poppy J (2018) and Pepa Mahogany (2019). The winner of the coveted Mr. Key West Bear 2022 title was Little Keto, who was a hit with the audience.
The photos from the weekend speak volumes about the excitement and passion that this event generated. The bears in attendance had a great time, enjoying the company of old friends and making new ones. The event was a true celebration of the bear community, and the fact that it will return in 2023 is already generating buzz. Key West Bear Weekend 2023 is scheduled for November 1st though 5th, 2023, so get ready to mark your calendars!
In these times of uncertainty and upheaval, it is heartening to see that events like the Key West Bear Weekend continue to thrive. They provide a space for members of a community to come together, share their experiences, and support each other. The bears of Key West have shown that they are resilient and ready to celebrate, and we look forward to seeing them again in 2023!
