Jennifer McBride, a woman charged in connection with the theft of Lady Gaga’s dogs in 2021, is reportedly suing the singer for not paying the promised $500,000 reward. Gaga’s dog walker Ryan Fischer was shot four times and her three French bulldogs were stolen during the attack in Los Angeles almost two years ago. McBride, who returned the dogs to an LAPD police station two days after they were taken, claims that she is owed the money because Gaga offered it to anyone who returned the dogs, under the premise of “no questions asked”.
McBride, who was in a relationship with one of the thieves’ fathers at the time of the incident, was charged with receiving stolen property and pled no contest, receiving two years’ probation. James Howard Jackson and Jaylin White were sentenced for the crime, facing 21 and four years in prison, respectively.
According to TMZ, McBride is now demanding $1.5 million from Gaga, claiming that the initial reward offer was “misleading.” L.A. county deputy district attorney, Michele Hanisee, has stated that McBride was aware that the dogs were stolen at the time of the incident. The case has divided the internet, with many questioning McBride’s audacity and suggesting that Gaga should not pay the reward.
Despite the bizarre turn of events, some fans have found humor in the situation and have even turned it into a meme. While McBride’s lawsuit against Gaga may seem audacious, it remains to be seen how the case will unfold in court. Gaga has not yet commented publicly on the matter.
