The RuPaul’s Drag Race spinoff, All Stars, has a new season in store for its devoted fans. After crowning a winner for season 15, the show’s hype machine is already building up anticipation for the upcoming “All Stars 8” season with a cryptic teaser. This season features returning contestants for a second (sometimes third) shot at the crown, and it has already received an air date.
The official teaser from the Drag Race Twitter account says that All Stars 8 will be airing on Paramount Plus starting on May 12th. Fans in the United Kingdom can also access the series via the dedicated app for all things Drag Race. The upcoming season is being teased as containing something called “The Fame Games,” which has sent Drag Race enthusiasts into a frenzy.
“All Stars 8” is set to focus on trans rights, an issue that has been at the forefront of the LGBTQ+ community. The season 15 finale showcased timely and powerful performances from top four queens, including a focus on trans rights. Fans have reacted with all the excitement one can expect from the borderline-rabid fanbase that is Drag Race‘s, with many already predicting their All Stars 8 winner based on the rumored cast list.
While there has been no official cast announcement yet, the rumored cast list is already circulating online. The cast includes 12 drag queens from different seasons of the show, and only one runner-up. The list includes Alexis Michelle (season nine), Darienne Lake (season six), Heidi N Closet (season 12), Jaymes Mansfield (season nine), Jessica Wild (season two), Jimbo (Canada’s Drag Race season one/ UK Vs. TW season one), Kahanna Montrese (season 11), Kandy Muse (season 13), Lala Ri (season 13), Monic Beverly Hillz (season five), Mrs Kasha Davis (season seven), and Naysha Lopez (season eight).
While some fans may have raised eyebrows at some of the more “left field” choices on the list, such as very early outs on their original seasons, “All Stars 6” also contained some rogue queens and has gone down in memory as one of the best All Stars seasons ever.
“All Stars 8” is set to premiere on May 12th on Paramount Plus and WOW Presents Plus UK. As Drag Race enthusiasts wait with bated breath for the new season, one thing is certain – “All Stars 8” is set to bring more drama, excitement, and entertainment than ever before.
