Fans of the British hit Netflix series, Heartstopper, can look forward to the show’s second season, set to debut sometime in 2023. Season two will reportedly delve deeper into asexuality, exploring the character of Isaac (played by Tobie Donovan). Creator Alice Oseman spoke about the importance of discussing asexuality in a significant way, as it is often misunderstood by many, including those in the LGBTQ+ community.
“The A stands for asexual [ace] or aromantic [aro]. Those words mean little-to-no sexual attraction or little-to-no romantic attraction. This confuses a lot of people because, for most people, they’re the same. But for aro/ace people, they can differ,” Oseman explained in a recent interview with Attitude.
While Isaac was mostly in the background in season one, season two will reportedly see him take on a more prominent role, allowing the audience to learn more about his character. Along with Donovan, other cast members set to appear in season two include Kit Connor (Nick), Joe Locke (Charlie), Yasmin Finney (Elle), William Gao (Tao), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), and Sebastian Croft (Ben).
As Heartstopper season two continues to generate buzz, fans will no doubt be eagerly awaiting the next instalment.
