TL;DR

  • Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope shared affectionate Instagram posts that strongly suggested they are dating.
  • The two musicians have known each other for years and have previously supported LGBTQ+ rights.
  • Morris came out as bisexual in 2024 and has spoken publicly about country music’s relationship with LGBTQ+ fans.

Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope appear to have made their relationship public after a series of Instagram posts this week showed the two country musicians cuddling and kissing.

Morris, who came out as bisexual in 2024, shared a carousel on July 7 that included a photo of the pair together, along with a playbill for Meg Stalter’s run as Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary! Pope then reposted the image to her Instagram Stories, according to The Sun, and wrote, “Trying to get bb to move here, everyone help.”

Later the same day, Pope posted another image to her Instagram Stories showing the two kissing. The caption read: “she won’t go out with you because she’s out with me, silly.”

The posts were the first public on-the-main-feed display of affection between the two, but their connection stretches back years. Morris and Pope have been photographed together at country music events over time, and Pope opened for Morris during her world tour in 2019.

The pair have also both spoken out in support of LGBTQ+ rights. In 2022, they publicly pushed back against transphobic comments made by Brittany Aldean, the wife of singer Jason Aldean, after she posted about being grateful to her parents for “not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase.”

Morris also drew attention for turning criticism from conservative pundit Tucker Carlson into merch that included Trans Lifeline’s hotline number. She later said on a 2023 episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, “Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry.”

The relationship posts add to a growing list of openly queer country stars, a category that has gained visibility in recent years through artists such as Orville Peck and Brandi Carlile.
