Mike and Sebastian Hilscher first posted their wedding video on YouTube as a way to share memories of their big day with loved ones. The couple’s heartfelt reel of their wedding in Bora Bora featuring their young daughter Mia went viral almost immediately. This was the start of a successful YouTube and Instagram career as daddy influencers. They continue to share honest insights into their lives as two gay fathers and the trials of parenting. With their growing audience, the couple recently made the move from Austria to Palm Desert, California.
Mike and Sebastian will also be joined by a German film crew from the popular German TV show Goodbye Deutschland!, which for 15 seasons has told the stories of expats from German-speaking countries around the world. Mike explained that after experiencing skepticism towards their family in Austria, California was the obvious choice. Coming from a state with a more questionable view of gay acceptance, the couple will enjoy a much more welcoming environment in their new home.
Although growing their social media presence will remain a priority for the couple, the primary reason for their move is family planning. The couple is planning their second baby by surrogacy and wants to be a part of the pregnancy. As their surrogate lives in Florida, the move to California will make the commute less complicated. Mike said that they wanted to avoid any travel restrictions that might come with COVID-19, which may have made it difficult to pick up their baby.
In addition to their successful social media and influencer careers, Mike and Sebastian have enjoyed success in a range of other ventures. Mike’s expertise as a psychological consultant means that he can offer free consultations to followers. Sebastian has had a successful construction business for some time now, which he’ll continue to run while in the U.S. He’ll also be introducing its products to the American market.
