The BBC has recently released the first images of its upcoming gay drama series, ‘Lost Boys & Fairies.’ This highly anticipated show promises to delve into the tender and emotional relationship between singer and artist Gabriel, portrayed by Sion Daniel Young, and his partner Andy, played by Fra Fee, as they embark on a journey towards adoption.
Fra Fee, known for his roles in ‘Hawkeye’ and London’s ‘Cabaret’ revival, expressed his excitement for the project on Instagram shortly after the release of the images, calling it a “stunner of a story.” The drama was filmed in and around Cardiff, showcasing Gabriel’s performances at the queer club-space ‘Neverland’ and tracing his path of self-discovery. He grapples with childhood memories, attempts to mend his relationship with his father, and prepares to become a parent himself.
The star-studded cast includes Elizabeth Berrington, Olivier Award-winner Sharon D Clarke, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Arwel Gruffydd, Shaheen Jafargholi, Mali Ann Rees, William Thomas, Gwyneth Keyworth, and Gwawr Loader.
‘Lost Boys & Fairies’ has been created and written by Daf James and directed by James Kent. James expressed his thrill in bringing this personally inspired Welsh, queer, adoption story to screen authentically. Kent shared his excitement, stating that the series is a beautiful love story with heart-wrenching, funny, and powerful scripts that advocate for the right of gay individuals to become parents. The series is expected to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer next year, promising to be a groundbreaking addition to LGBTQ+ representation on television.
