In a daring move, SBS is set to premiere its provocative new anthology series, “Erotic Stories,” late next month. This highly anticipated show features an ensemble cast of beloved Australian actors and promises to offer a candid and uplifting exploration of human sexuality and the profound need for both physical and emotional connection.
One notable episode titled “Bound” stars Tim Draxl, known for his Logie-nominated performance in the AIDS crisis drama “In Our Blood.” Draxl co-stars alongside Joel Lago, and their story delves into the life of a young gay man whose disability becomes a fetishized aspect of his identity. Draxl shared his thoughts, emphasizing the importance of addressing taboo topics and reducing stigmas: “Eroticism, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder, and the eroticism in ‘Bound’ deals with something that is quite taboo and probably carries a lot of stigma around it. I love that this show is bringing that out into the open and making it a discussion.”
Another episode titled “The Deluge” features “Wentworth” stars Kate Box and Danielle Cormack, who explore the concept of breaking a sexual drought through a chance encounter on a dating app. Meanwhile, “Walking Gambit” tells the story of two men meeting at a beat, and “Masc Up” challenges New Year’s Eve traditions in an unconventional way.
Helen Bowden, the director of Lingo Pictures and a producer on the show, expressed her excitement, stating, “The new anthology does exactly what it says on the tin – tells Erotic Stories. They are sensual, honest, and full of positive human connections. They are funny, surprising, twisty, and humane. And hopefully, they’ll be a turn on for everyone.” With each episode set in a distinct world and featuring a fresh cast, “Erotic Stories” offers viewers the opportunity to indulge in enticing narratives in a snackable format, igniting intrigue and anticipation.
Mark your calendars as “Erotic Stories” is set to premiere on SBS on October 26, and all episodes will be available for streaming on SBS On Demand.
