Unveiling Cassandro’s Empowering Persona

These newly-released clips showcase the intricate chemistry between Bernal and Bad Bunny, offering viewers a more profound understanding of their characters’ relationship. The scenes also adeptly illustrate how the Cassandro persona empowers Armendáriz. In the first scene, Armendáriz and Felipe engage in a candid conversation about lucha libre, with Felipe confessing his preference for strip clubs. Armendáriz, in turn, reveals the strength he derives from not wearing a mask, teasing, “If Cassandro were here, he’d tell you many things… like that he wants to kiss you.”

A Passionate Connection

The second clip delves even further, capturing a passionate kiss shared between the two characters. This intimate moment unfolds as they enjoy beers together but takes an unexpected turn when Felipe hesitates, leaving Armendáriz with a playful parting phrase. The anticipation for the full movie release is palpable.

The Cassandro Journey

“Cassandro” tells the remarkable story of Saúl Armendáriz, a gay man raised near the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, who aspires to become a renowned luchador. Overcoming initial obstacles, he receives guidance from Sabrina (Roberta Colindrez) and crafts the flamboyant exotico wrestling persona of Cassandro, often referred to as the “Liberace of Lucha Libre.” Cassandro’s rise to fame defied the conventions of the machismo-driven wrestling world, making him the first foreign-born wrestler to clinch a world title in Mexico.

A Stellar Ensemble

Joining Gael García Bernal and Roberta Colindrez in the cast is Bad Bunny, whose portrayal of Armendáriz’s love interest has already generated buzz and anticipation. The film also features Perla De La Rosa, Joaquín Cosío, Raúl Castillo, and the iconic real-life luchador El Hijo del Santo. “Cassandro” is set to premiere in select theaters on September 15, with Amazon Prime Video streaming it starting September 22. This cinematic exploration promises an enthralling and passionate narrative, driven by the captivating performances of its talented cast.
