Nick Offerman, renowned for his role in “Civil War” and as a vocal LGBTQ+ ally, has made a bold statement about the upcoming US presidential election. Offerman announced his support for Kamala Harris and sharply criticized Donald Trump, calling him “f**king weird.”
During the virtual Comics for Kamala fundraising event on August 5, Offerman performed an original song for viewers who might be reconsidering their political stance. Singing to the tune of “God Bless The USA,” he expressed his pride in supporting Harris and distancing himself from the GOP, citing his inability to support a party associated with Trump’s numerous felony charges.
“I’m proud to be a Kamala man, who has quit the GOP, because I can’t just abide by a man who’s tried for 34 felonies,” Offerman sang, pointing to Trump’s conviction on 34 counts in a historic hush-money trial. He continued to criticize Trump’s comments about Harris’s ethnicity and his running mate JD Vance, adding a humorous yet pointed critique of the current political climate.
Offerman’s commitment to progressive values was further highlighted by his fiery acceptance speech at the Independent Spirit Awards in February, where he was honored for his role in “The Last of Us.” Offerman used this platform to address anti-LGBTQ+ hate and emphasize the importance of inclusive storytelling, declaring, “It’s not a gay story, it’s a love story, you a**hole,” in response to homophobic backlash.
The Comics for Kamala event also featured appearances by Kathryn Hahn and Jane Fonda, both advocating for Harris’s leadership qualities. Fonda, known for her activism and acting career, emphasized Harris’s experience and readiness to challenge Trump, whom she referred to as “the orange man.”
Offerman’s endorsement adds to the growing support for Kamala Harris among progressive circles, with many viewing her as a leader capable of steering the country toward decency and inclusivity.
