In a groundbreaking move that showcases their commitment to inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ community, the San Francisco 49ers will be hosting a historic PRIDE Drag Brunch at Levi’s Stadium on Saturday, October 28th, at 11:00 AM. While anticipation for the clash between the 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday runs high, this drag brunch promises to be an unforgettable event for both football enthusiasts and LGBTQ fans.
This unique event is organized in partnership with 49ers PRIDE, the NFL’s first official fan club and social community dedicated to LGBTQ football fans. In the past, 49ers PRIDE has organized watch parties and philanthropic events at LGBTQ bars, but now they’re bringing their charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to the football stadium itself.
The lineup for the brunch includes Bay Area drag luminaries like The Vixen, Tala, and Catinni P. Vandon, with the possibility of team legends making an appearance. It’s a convergence of sports and drag culture that promises to deliver entertainment levels several degrees fiercer than anything seen before.
This initiative stems from a newly formed Niners employee resource group comprising LGBTQ staff members from both the front office and the football staff. Together, they brainstormed ways to engage the LGBTQ community, ultimately deciding to host this drag brunch at Levi’s Stadium.
Christina Jefferson, the 49ers Senior Director of Inclusion and Culture, expressed pride in the organization’s commitment to inclusivity: “Our LGBTQ community is thriving inside the 49ers, and I know we are only going to make a bigger impact both with fans and inside this organization.”
This event not only celebrates the LGBTQ fanbase but also sends a powerful message that LGBTQ fans, employees, and allies can enjoy both football and drag without having to choose one over the other. Tickets for the event, priced at $40, are available now, with a portion of the proceeds going to support San Francisco Pride. It’s a momentous occasion that promises to make history in the world of sports and LGBTQ inclusion.
